Leadership

Don Cooper | CEO
With 37 years experience in construction supervision and management, Mr. Cooper offers a deep understanding of the construction business, from estimating to project management. Prior to joining The Shockey Companies, Mr. Cooper was President of the Building Division at the Dick Corporation, a large national general contractor. As one of Dick Corporation’s key operations personnel, Mr. Cooper was responsible for a variety of the company’s most important and successful projects and was a leader in the development of their design-build expertise. Mr. Cooper joined The Shockey Companies in 2005 as President of Howard Shockey & Sons, Inc. In 2008, Don Shockey promoted Mr. Cooper to CEO of The Shockey Companies. He holds a B. S. in Civil Engineering from the University of Cincinnati.

Jeff Boehm | Vice President
Mr. Boehm has extensive experience in commercial construction, business development, contract negotiation, public-private partnerships and land development. He has been a leader in the Commonwealth in the pursuit and development of PPEA projects, and is a frequent speaker on the topic. In 2005, he was appointed to the Virginia Legislature’s PPEA Model Procedures Task Force, to which he was reappointed in 2009. Mr. Boehm joined The Shockey Companies in 1987. He offers 23 years of experience in construction and development, and is a graduate of West Virginia University.

Jon Hancher | Director of Operations
Mr. Hancher is involved in the coordination and execution of construction projects, including subcontract negotiations, scheduling, cost control tracking and reporting, document control, and coordination of daily field operations. He is skilled in managing the construction of projects, specifically for education, healthcare, institutional, advanced technology and commercial markets. Mr. Hancher has 23 years of experience in the construction industry, and is a graduate of Purdue University.

Mark Lovecky | Director of Preconstruction
Mr. Lovecky is responsible for the preparation of project estimates include outlining a scope of work, preparing quantity surveys, estimating labor productivity, estimating labor and material pricing for reinforced concrete work, carpentry, general conditions, demolition and the erection of various specialty and equipment items. He manages the solicitation of sub-contractor and supplier bids, and resolves technical bidding issues with both subcontractors and A/E teams. His ability to interpret the intent of architects and engineers is unsurpassed. He joined The Shockey Companies in 1984 as an Estimator and was promoted to Senior Estimator in 1991. In 2005, Mr. Lovecky became Chief Estimator and 2009 advanced to his current position. Mr. Lovecky offers 27 years experience in the construction industry, and holds a BA from the University of Maine and a Bachelor of Building Construction Management from the University of Florida.
