Shenandoah Memorial Hospital to Upgrade Imaging & Cardio-Pulmonary Center

March 21, 2011

Woodstock, VA -- With plans to renovate and upgrade its diagnostic imaging center, Shenandoah Memorial Hospital (SMH) is committed to providing patients with the highest level of customer service and convenience.

General contractor Howard Shockey & Sons expects to begin construction next month. Set to open in early 2012, Shenandoah Memorial's new Imaging & Cardio-Pulmonary Center will serve patients in rural Shenandoah County and the surrounding area.

By moving ahead with this project, Shenandoah Memorial Hospital (an affiliate of Valley Health) is both modernizing patient care and improving the patient experience. Approximately 11,000 SF of renovated space will offer state-of-the-art equipment and the latest in patient care. Warm materials, colors, and lighting will be used to create a soothing environment. Patients will enjoy comfortable private waiting areas, adjacent to dressing rooms and procedure rooms, to make their visit to the imaging center more pleasant.

"Diagnostic imaging is an increasingly important component of patient care," says Jeff Boehm, VP of builder Howard Shockey & Sons, Inc., which offers expertise in healthcare construction. "Shockey has constructed a number of diagnostic imaging centers to meet the needs of our healthcare partners, who in turn are keeping pace with advances in diagnostic technology and treatment." Shockey is also seeing a trend toward improved patient comfort in the construction of healthcare projects. There is a focus on therapeutic, healing environments - which contribute to patient comfort, privacy, and reduce stress, adds Boehm.

Shockey shares Valley Health's commitment to excellent health care at the local level, and we are pleased to build a first-class imaging facility to better serve the patients of Shenandoah Memorial," says Boehm.
